The original rythm was laid out by Stone Gossard so it is possible that he played the verse melody for the recording as he is seen in videos playing what is usually Mike McCready's part. McCready's solo was done using a Fender Stratocaster in three takes but only one complete take went on the record. It sounds like it was mixed becasue certain parts are raw and others have reverb. Since there was is only one take here, I asume reverb was digitally added by sound tech. To get the tubular sound, he may have changed the location of his picking hand throughout the solo and changed the setting on the pick-up selector switch. I have noted where these changes took place and changed the sound accordingly.
