麻雀 







who will love a little sparrow 

谁会去爱一只小麻雀  

who's traveled far and cries for rest? 

谁会千里迢迢却为求得片刻栖息？ 

"not i," said the oak tree  

橡树回答说“我不会” 

"i won't share my branches with no sparrow's nest  

“我的枝头不愿分享给没有鸟巢的麻雀 

and my blanket of leaves won't warm her cold breast" 

我厚实的树叶也不会去温暖她冰冷的胸怀” 

who will love a little sparrow  

谁会去爱一只小麻雀 

and who will speak a kindly word? 

谁会去递上一句温情的话语？ 

"not i," said the swan  

诗人回答说“我不会” 

"the entire idea is utterly absurd  

“这种想法实在荒唐 

i'd be laughed at and scorned if the other swans heard." 

如果被别的诗人听说，我会遭到轻蔑的嘲笑” 

who will take pity in his heart  

谁会发自内心的怜悯 

and who will feed a starving sparrow? 

谁来挽救一只快要饿死的麻雀？ 

"not i," said the golden wheat 

金色的小麦回答说“我不会”  

"i would if i could but i cannot i know  

“我虽然很想但是我知道我不能 

i need all my grain to prosper and grow" 

我需要我身上所有的谷粒生根发芽茁壮成长” 

who will love a little sparrow? 

谁会去爱一只小麻雀？ 

will no one write her eulogy? 

难道没有人愿意将她赞美？ 

"i will," said the earth  

大地回答说“我会” 

"for all i've created returns unto me  

“因为我所创造的终将回归我的胸怀 

from dust were ye made and dust ye shall be" 

这世界从来都是尘归尘土归土”
