The Songwriter Deluxe Standard EC sets a new benchmark for modern acoustic guitars. Combining time-honored production techniques such as Gibson’s renowned 1930s bracing pattern with custom red spruce top braces and cutting-edge appointments such as a 12”-16” compound radius fingerboard for electric guitar-like playing action, this guitar is a versatile, easy player with maximum tone, volume, projection along with extended reach to access the upper frets. This big-bodied, square-shouldered dreadnought is built from the classic tonewood combination of Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides. Advanced X-bracing made of scalloped Adirondack red spruce braces bonded with hide glue to support the top pays tribute to the power-house dreadnoughts of yesterday. The Songwriter Deluxe Standard EC adds a rounded cutaway to the body for easier upper-fret reach for the contemporary performer. Classic features like maple binding, rosewood fingerboard and bridge and a one-piece quarter-sawn mahogany neck all contribute to the tonal brilliance of this guitar while finish details like the abalone soundhole rosette, mother-of-pearl diamond eye fingerboard and headstock inlays, custom two-point tortoise pickguard, back marquetry strip and gold Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners all contribute to its elegant styling. Gibson’s hand-sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer in Antique Natural or Vintage Sunburst finish ensures a beautiful sheen and authentic aging that doesn’t interfere with the guitar’s resonance.
