Two years after alternative music legends Pixies reformed and released Indie Cindy, their fifth studio album and first in over 20 years, the Massachusetts outfit has announced another return with the forthcoming Head Carrier.

Alongside the announcement, the band will begin touring this November in Europe in support of the new album, beginning in Vienna. Argentine bassist Paz Lenchantin, who sat with the band on their last album and tour, will continue working with the band filling in the void left by former member and co-founder Kim Deal. The band has also confirmed that Lenchantin will be the permanent bassist with the group moving forward.

"I was very nervous in the beginning when I went to that first rehearsal," Lenchantin writes about her journeys with the band. "There were these shoes I felt I had to fill and I tried to do the best I could for the fans, to make the live performances sound true to the originals. I spent three years learning to understand what being a Pixie meant, and now, my heart, spirit, and love for their music is embedded in me and I feel like I have become a Pixie. We had been more about the history of the Pixies, but now, we are about going forward."

The new 12-track album was recorded in late February and March at London's Rak Studios with the help of producer Tom Dalgety. It will be officially available on September 30th, with an exclusive deluxe box set available through the band's website. The box includes a CD, a heavy-weight/180 gram black vinyl copy, and a booklet of artwork done by the band's longtime art director Vaughan Oliver. Various other packagings of the album will be available.
