The late ‘80s was a time when men wearing cardigans and big specs were fey, bookish types clutching bags full of seven-inch singles. A time when independent music became a genre rather than a style of distribution. A time of bands such as The Smiths and the Happy Mondays and when The House of Love released their first single. It was 20 years ago that the band shot to number 1 in the indie charts with their debut single, "Shine On". Their debut album went to number 1 a month later. NME and Melody Maker front covers soon followed, as did a further 10 hit singles. This single CD is the best of the band live, as recorded and broadcast by the BBC. Storming, previously unreleased, versions of all of their chart hits including the seminal "Destroy The Heart", voted single of the year in 1988. A fantastic snap shot of a band at the pinnacle of their career.
