A Spanish-born indie singer and songwriter, Russian Red (the nom de plume of Lourdes Hernandez, born in Madrid in 1986) got her start after working on demos with fellow musician Brian Hunt in the late 2000s. The demos would then lead to a deal with Eureka Records, and Russian Red released her first album, I Love Your Glasses, on the label in 2008. Russian Red’s second album Fuerteventura is a cutesy folk waltz highlighting Lourdes’ quirky and gorgeous voice perfectly, it’s a song that is so easy to love instantly. …the lead single of the album “I Hate You But I Love You“, a wistful ballad that while straightforward is carefully crafted and has a beautiful melody making it as equally pleasurable as anything off her debut ‘I Love Your Glasses’.
